It all started on a film set... well, okay, it started on a music video for a local band. Julia was a first-time director, looking for a real cinematographer to help her out on this passion project. Tim was that real cinematographer, reestablishing himself and his business in the Baltimore area.
After ongoing collaborations across a wide variety of indie projects, corporate media, non-profit storytelling--and of course, a few more music videos--we realized it was time to bring our overlapping skills and storytelling passions together.
Two people. Many disciplines.
One very hands-on approach.
We built Syndicate Row around the belief that good creative work is better when there are fewer layers between the idea and the people bringing it to life. We stay close to the work from the first spark through the final frame, bringing our own mix of strategy, creative direction, production, and storytelling to every project. When a project calls for more hands, we know plenty of talented people we'd absolutely love to bring along.
Finding inspiration from:
Slow mornings, getting lost upstate, vintage film cameras, Sears Catalog homes, tiki bars, Broadway, Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway... and whatever catches our eye on a road trip.
Julia brings a background in storytelling, brand marketing, and mission-driven communications to every project.
Endlessly curious about people and places, Julia is always discovering something new, whether it’s hidden neighborhood history, a niche museum, or a destination that's worth the detour. She has a knack for finding the stories that make a brand distinct and the details that make an experience memorable.
LOVES: Turner ClassiC Movies, mad men, Veggiesaurus-Friendly Pop-Ups
Tim brings two decades in the film industry and a collaborative, service-minded approach to every new connection.
Even better though: he's an excellent host, mixologist, and home cook. Whether he's on set or hosting a dinner party, Tim has refined his ability to read the room and anticipate needs before they're spoken.
LOVES: Vintage film cameras, cheesy movies, the nuances of different pizza styles
All about
Unreasonable hospitality, slow mornings, time in the mountains, locally-sourced meals, and every day being Small-Business-Saturday.
NOT ABOUT
Hustle culture, artificial people, endless email chains, band-aid fixes, and the phrase "it's good enough."
Sound like you? we're probably a great fit.
We want to make sure we're the right fit for every project we take on: not just in skills, but in approach and attitude. If you like what you've read here, drop us a line. We can't wait to hear what you're building!
